Can't make regular cookies from this recipe,

"I might try it again and try to make cookie bars rather than cookies. If you make it as directed and put it on the cookie sheet, they immediately spread and flatten in the oven and you end up having to scrape off flat cookie slabs from the baking sheet. It's a great idea, it's a shame it doesn't work."
