"I tried this recipe knowing that it got a horrible review. I doubled the ingredients and substituted bbq sauce (preferably sweet baby ray's, but any bbq sauce will do) for ketchup and I added half a red pepper in place of half of an onion. I cooked them until they were a dark golden brown as opposed to the light brown recommended in the directions. I topped the burgers with pepperjack cheese. Even my blood-thirsty, meat-eating older brother enjoyed this recipe."
