Excellent in fake Chicken Pot Pie, August 10, 2008
Guest jnbp

"This recipe takes a little TLC to make due to the cornstarch clumping up a bit. It's a keeper with a few modifications. The Nutritional Yeast does remind me of mixing up baby food but it sure doesn't end up tasting or looking like baby food.
Be sure to dice onion very small. Saute onion for 2 min. Add flour and just an 1/8th of a tsp of garlic salt ,(if any) saute for 2 more min. add a bit of broth and scrape bottom of pan to incorporate all the flour, whisk in the rest of the broth (I used 1-14.5 ounce can of vegetable broth Swanson) and the cornstarch. Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer. Run it through the strainer after adding the cornstarch to prevent clumps. I used 1 Tlb liquid aminos instead of 2Tlbs of soy sauce. Add nutritional Yeast and let it cook for a bit longer.
To make fake Chicken Pot Pie, I used Pilsbury pie crust found in the refrigerator section and 1 bag of Birds Eye mixed veggies and 1 bag of Quorn brand fake chicken tenders, ( in the Northeast you can purchase them at Shaw's supermarket in the freezer section,) Mix tenders and veggies with warm gravy pour into 8x8 pan lined with pie crust, top with pie crust and Bake at 350 for 40 min. Not the healthiest meal but great for comfort food."
