"I made this recipe several years ago for my 16th or 17th birthday party, I'm not sure which, with a margarine-based icing because I was vegan then, and it turned out wonderfully; no one could believe that it was only soda and cake mix and several people asked me to make one for their birthday. Mom still brings that cake up every now and then to comment on how unbelievable it was that it was so good and yet so simple."
