"So after I made a pie yesterday with frozen dough, I decided to be adventurous and make my own crust for today's pie, which is a mix of the ingredients from yesterday and a casserole I made a few days ago. Delicious filling.
I followed your recipe with the exception of the shortening. Because I couldn't find any in four grocery stores (apparently England doesn't like it? no idea) I used a full cup of butter to compensate and a milk glaze before putting it the oven.
It baked up like an absolute dream. The bottom is soft because I didn't pre-bake it, which I very much like, and the top is thick and almost crusty without being too hard. It tastes so wonderful. I'm never used store-bought dough again if I have the choice. Thank you so much for your recipe!"
