"I have used the Garmin Approach G5 for several rounds. The color screen and yardages are terrific. The yardages seem to me to be spot on. Very easy to use. I still haven't looked at the manual... that's how easy it is to use the features of this unit!
It would be nice to be able to brighten the screen in certain lighting conditions. It would also be nice to be able to program in your own custom targets that you would use on a course. Finally, I hope they do continue to update their course database. 5000 sounds like a lot of courses, but in my state (NH) they have yet to list some pretty popular golf courses.
Over all, I'd say that this is a great GPS unit. A bit pricey, but I've used Garmin GPS units before and don't mind paying a little extra for the name and quality. Also, remember that there will be no annual fees as they update their course data base."
