"I have the magic jack and it works great- People can't tell that I'm not on a regular landline. I couldn't believe how easy it was to set up - you plug it in and everything installs automatically and in about 3 minutes I plugged my phone in and it works fine. The price you pay for what you get is amazing - $40 initially and then only $20 a year. I bought mine at radio shack and would probably recomend buying one of these through a store so if it doesn't work for you it can be easily returned. To address some of the reviews - For paying $20 a year what kind of customer service do you really expect? Having a call center and staff to help nasty customers costs a lot of money - You get what you pay for. Also, if you have a slow computer, old computer, or unreliable internet connection this won't work - the device needs a reliable system to be attached to. Again to avoid these problems just buy it at a store for a hassle free return if you have a problem. I would recomend this to anyone looking to save a ton of money. Also as a frequent traveler it is nice to be able to take my phone number with me and save cell phone minutes."
