"Girl-Yeah Right! (2003)
Firstly I’d like to say that this is definitely one of the best skateboard films ever made, incorporating skits and special effects to create a truly unique skate flick. Yeah Right! Showcases the amazing talents of the Girl Skateboards Team and their sister Team, Chocolate Skateboards. I would highly recommend getting my hands on a copy of this film, especially for the Keenan Milton tribute. For those of you who don’t know Keenan Milton was a highly talented Chocolate Skateboards pro who died in 2001 after drowning. RIP, Keenan forever!

The movie starts of really dramatically with a tribute to Keenan Milton, who also has a short part at the start in which all his tricks are done switch stance. Following this is a slow motion montage directed by the famous Spike Jonze, who directs all the skits in the film. The amazing Ty Evans films, directs and edits the rest of the film.
Up first is Brandon Biebel, crazy technical manual and grind tricks make his part an instant standout with his cool gangster style. Brian Anderson follows with a solid part of hammers. Next is a cool skit involving a Magic Board, you’ll have to see it to believe it!
The Chocolate Team is then introduced with a skit starring Marc Johnson, pretty funny. Marc continues to throw down some really technical manual and grind tricks, skating to a Joy Division song, great part. Mike York is another technical wizard, he absolutely kills San Francisco. Some good skating follows in the chocolate team montage featuring: Chico Brenes, Jesus Fernandez, Daniel Castillo, Chris Roberts, Ricardo Carvalho, Scott Johnston, Richard Mulder and Kenny Anderson. After this we are treated to more chocolate from the likes of Justin Eldridge, after dislocating his finger and then putting it back into place, Justin has a short but extremely technical part full of switch tricks, nollie tricks, and flips all onto hubba ledges and rails. Closing the Chocolate section is the legend himself, Gino Iannucci. Gino skates deadly fast to Guns n Roses. Crazy part.
A funny skit involving the likes of Hollywood actor Owen Wilson introduces us back to the Girl squad, but is that really him skating? It’s actually Eric Koston doubling for Owen in a blonde wig, great interlude.
Am Robbie McKinley has a smooth, relaxed part followed by another dramatic montage, this time featuring Girl’s veteran riders. Guy Mariano and Rudy Johnson have a couple of tricks, the highly underrated Tony Ferguson absolutely kills it, Jeron Wilson is smooth and rides switch like it’s his regular stance and Rick Howard finishes the montage of with some crazy tech bangers before smashing his board to splinters.
The kid’s parts are next. Paul Rodriguez is one of the best to ever set foot on the board and you’ll see why in this highly technical banger fest of a part, and this was when he just turned pro! A half a minute Matrix skit is next and then two gnarly bails introduce Jereme Rogers who, like P-Rod, is also a highly talented teen rider. He skates big and tech to Michael Jackson.
Where moving on to the heavyweights now! Mike Carroll may have temper tantrums often, but his part is nothing short of classic. Carroll is a legend. Rick McCrank skates massive spots and churns out one hell of a part. A short skit involving invisible boards is next. This is probably the coolest skit in the video. Closing this long skate video off is none other than the X-games gold medalist himself, Eric Koston. Eric makes nollies look like child’s play. His part is seriously on another level to anyone else’s and his ender tricks will blow your mind. The credits mandatorily follow this.
There are also some great bonus features on the DVD version of this vid including a Keenan Milton documentary, slide shows, ads, alternate edits, bonus unused raw footage and behind the scenes looks at the special effects. See if you can pick out some of the outrageous fake tricks in the film. Hint: Look for the skaters to ollie midway in the air.
