Magdalena's Restaurant and Cafe on the Square, December 21, 2008
By oShieki

"Magdalena's Restaurant and Café on the Square is one of my favorite attractions in the Corydon area. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a unique experience, delicious food, and great service. This restaurant reminds me of my hometown and I look forward to talking to the locals and having a great time every time I walk through the doors.

The restaurant is a great place for celebration, I have witnessed many birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas parties, and even a wedding once. The banquet room is available for parties and special occasions, and the restaurant even does catering. Magdalena's management/ownership is ALWAYS open for new ideas, and the Chefs are very creative and flexible on meal ideas.

If I could recommend a meal for a first time visitor, I would definitely try the Seafood Feast, which has three different dipping sauces. The hand battered shrimp is to die for. If you're more of a Pasta-lover, the Tuscan Chicken and Linguine is quite delectable. If your just looking for a smaller portion in the form of a sandwich, don't pass up the Toasted Turkey BLT and Swiss, which comes together quite well. And of course, your experience at Magdalena's is not complete without the ever-famous Sweet Potato Patties, with brown sugar and honey drizzled on top. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!

The new Café is a definite catch! The barista's are very friendly and knowledgeable on all of their products, and are also open to creating any new combinations. So go over and order a Corydon Chill or a hot latte, but don't forget about the illustrious dessert tray! Whether you prefer a "Bumbleberry" pie with a few scoops of ice cream, carrot cake, or even the rich Godiva cheesecake you must try one for sure. Then you can sit back and relax in the coffee shop in front of the fireplace, where if you're lucky you'll get to chat with a few regulars (who are always so nice and socialable!)

Corydon, the first capitol, is just a great town to visit. After hitting Magdalena's walk around the square, visit the quaint little shops and get a few souvenirs. There's a great wine shop called Cellar on the Square that I wouldn't pass up either. Don't forget that there's live entertainment at Magdalena's on the weekend nights, and during the summer there are many band concerts and festivals out around the Capitol building. This is a place that cannot be passed up, I assure you! The service at Magdalena's is exceptional, and the combination it all is pure brilliance."
