"Do not buy this unit it is made in China and Brinkmann will not guarantee this unit if the fire box burns out,
I just survived Hurricane IKE an we are still in the disaster zone MY PIT is 7 1/2 months old it was 6 months old when IKE passed through and left us with out electric for 2 1/2 weeks. I used this pitt dailey to cook and heat water on the fire box using what was available on the shelves and Oak for fallen trees on my property. this unit about 8 days we noticed the sheet metal started to oxidize and start separating in sheets of rusted layers , we could now see the flames an coals through the metal.
I called Dallas and told them what had happen the firebox was burnt out and unsafe , they sent out a replacement bottom half which could not be installed due to the whole box was brittle an unsafe, i called Brinkmann back , they said they made a heavier firebox but needed to send my receipt of purchase an they would replace. 2 weeks went by and no replacement. I called them and they stated " I had exceeded day to day use an it was not covered , SORRY.
I now have a PITT but no smoker fire box an tuff luck.
I highly suggest think hard before you buy this Brinkmann Product , they could have had a killer testimonial about how a family used there SMOKE N PITT to get through the power outage of Hurricane IKE."not now""
