"i've just seen this uncommonly good, hugely entertaining, thought-provoking and intelligent film. i do not except less from Varda, but 'Beaches' is special in many ways, not least in exploring Agnes Varda as human being and artist. it is a fanciful autobiography . . . wise, witty, tough and tender . . . it could be no one else. it captured my eyes, ears and mind. As About's review notes, this movie could have been banal. It rises to the oppositive extreme, worth it's 2 hours as few movies i've ever seen. Enough. Go see it if you haven't, again if you have."
