"Actually, I get this book. My kids call me mean just because I insist they read it. "Predictably adhd" says it is baloney. But she is a troubled teen what else is she suppose to say.
I encourage anyone to read this book. It is commonsense which today's teens seem to lack. This book's main premise is getting what teens want out of life,which they won't get if they are disrespectful to their adult in charge. GO Grandma!!!
Not everyone knows how to effectively communicate, this book at least gets the dialogue rolling. Especially if you read it with your teens. If you are a teen I want you to know This book main Premise is telling you that "JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE A TEEN IS NOT AN EXCUSE TO BE REBELLIOUS AND MAKE IT A WAR BETWEEN YOUR PARENTS" Get it. Too many Teens use being a teen as an excuse to lose control. Our society encourages them to be rebels, it is cool an all. This book tries to deal with the "I'm a Victim" spiel put out by many. "Predictably Adhd" tries playing the victim with her "Grandma's mean she made me read this book in so many words or less". Grandma is at least being pro-active in trying to help a granddaughter she loves. As for the christian in this book .This book was not a religious book. This book was about how a teen can have better relationships with the people around them. It did not contain any biblical scriptures that I have saw. I have two more chapters, maybe the christian stuff is at the end. This book only talked about being more spiritual but not any religion was preached. Like any book or therapy it only works if the reader acknowledges that they need help learning new skills to be more successful in their relationships.If you have a difficult child they will be resistant, but your more mature child will get it faster. My step-daughter had trouble applying this book, but then this book is telling her what she needs to hear not what she wants to hear. And that is the thing if they aren't ready to hear ,they just won't get it."
