ViaTalk - Not Ready for Prime Time, February 19, 2009

"I switched to ViaTalk when SunRocket went belly up. I have found the this to be a feature rich, inexpensive, no cheap, offering. I have frequently experienced the same problems mentioned in many reviews you will find on the Internet - phantom rings, one party not able to hear the other, clipping of sound, etc. I only seem to have problems when I try want to use it according to the support desk. Should I have to schedule when I want to use my phone?

I pay for the premium service because I do not want to wait 30 minutes or more for a support person and the fact that I need to contact them on a regular basis. Even with the premium service, the waits are generally at least 5 to 10 minutes and the service people do not necessarily follow through with what they promised. In addition, they seem to be guessing at what the problem and solution are. I can't tell you how many time I rebooted this or that, changed my router settings, or was told to call my cable company. Ridiculous!

Friends on other services do not have these problems. As of next week, I will be a former ViaTalk customer."
