Uncomforting approach, August 14, 2009
By fluffytummy

"The Road approaches human self-annihilation from a most realistic perspective. Yes, the language and grammar are (intentionally) stumbling, broken and "incorrect"; perfect for the world it portrays. McCarthy brilliantly brings us into that grey, bleak, silently nasty world from our comfortable fascade; but while doing so he equally brilliantly promotes what is really of significance in life, here and now and in that horror of a possible future - love and resilient hope. Certainly he lays the groundwork to re-think how we live and what we value."
