"I've been using mine for about a year now so I'll just post some of my experiences.
I've been using the Bamboo Fun Medium and while It has not been problem free, most of the problems are not Wacom's fault. The biggest problem I have is with logitech drivers--I have a nano for gaming--hijacking my tablet drivers. The touchpad also likes to take over sometimes, but more rarely. The bamboo doesn't take over the other people's drivers so I'd say the lack of compatibility is at the other people's end.
Disconnecting the nano's usb dongle helps somewhat, but the logitech drivers are still there and take over at random times, so sometimes I have to disconnect my bamboo for a second to reset the wacom drivers so they take control. When the logitech drivers take over, my bamboo will either switch to mouse mode without my direction, the eraser tip will act like a brush, or the cursor might just stop working entirely. I'll also notice logitec application specific functions suddenly start working in pen mode.
The mousewheel on my wacom mouse is a bit buggy. I can't say if this is for all wacom mice, or just the one I got. But sometimes moving the wheel just makes whatever function seem like it is running in place for a second or two. It doesn't last long, but it's intolerable for gaming, so I got the nano.
Handwriting recognition is great. Being able to do my math homework on the windows journal is great. Being able to write in a new kanji that I see to look it up, rather than having to use a radical, or some other, lookup method is great. Very nice if studying Asian languages like Chinese, Japanese, or Korean."
