Club Penguin - Safe, Secure, Parent-Friendly, May 15, 2009
By peglegpeggy

"My 11-year old has been using Club Penguin for over 2 years and still loves it in spite of having moved on to more mature interests. The site is closely moderated by real live human beings 24/7 and infractions of the rules are taken seriously and dealt with firmly. Bad langauge and any attempt to disguise it through deliberate mis-spelling or using blanks and symbols to try to get past the moderators (which often works on automated moderation systems) are dealt with swiftly; likewise, any attempt to elicit real-life information (address, phone no. etc) is stopped in its tracks. The number one priority of the site, aside from fun for kids, is their complete safety.

I have found their customer service response to be swift, courteous and personal. We were able to sort out problems with our password and email address (caused on our end) in less than a day; likewise, when my son was temporarily banned for inappropriate language, they quickly supplied me with all the information I asked for, including the date and time the infraction occurred and exactly what he said.

One other thing I really like about Club Penguin is that it gives kids a place to experiment with different kinds of social interaction in a very safe and kid-appropriate manner. I've gotten quite a giggle out of watching my son ask girl penguins out on "dates"!

I highly recommend Club Penguin as a safe site for kids. As always, read up on it thoroughly, including all the rules and regulations, and anything you might need to know about the subscription, before signing up."
