You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay, August 4, 2009
By KarinaKatalina

"This is an excellent book that has many concepts that make a lot of sense, but many people will not be able to accept or really grasp. The person above who wrote all this critique is one of these very people. Louise writes about complex ideas which I would imagine are foreign to most of us. Our minds are extremely powerful, and we underestimate its power every single day. We do have the ability to heal our bodies, we hear miraculous stories all the time. But to understand the process behind this is removing the emotionality. The dialogue we are constantly telling ourselves creates patterns and situations thusly leading to health issues. There are hereditary factors, but we also pass down certain patterns, and what we do individually is of far more importance. These things are maleable, changeable, but we have to break down to the basics and shed some of the baggage that we have had foisted upon us by others, or environment, or ourselves. She never speaks about not seeing a doctor, that would be idiotic, and sadly, I believe this person above who wrote about the book essentially missed the entire crux of what she is talking about. It's hard to accept that certain patterns and mental dialogue you tell yourself may be the very cause of your own problems. Most of us want to be a victim of circumstance, as it gains us attention or sympathy.

I bought this book based on a few lines a critic had extracted for his review on Amazon. And this was the description of the mental pattern which leads to multiple sclerosis, which my husband suffers from. I couldn't believe what I was reading...it described my husband to a tee! I was really taken aback. I bought it right away so I could read and find out more. Well, my husband has not been able to accept any part of the 'you make yourself ill' concept and in fact this has been the cause for some battles, but I found the book so fascinating I started applying things to myself and trying to do some of the work for myself and my own dialogue. I have read every single illness/condition and the probable causes, etc. We can heal ourselves. We do possess the ability, but it requires extreme fortitude and disclipine and critical thinking. Of course, when an illness progresses it's going to be far more difficult, and of course doctors are going to play a part in treatment. But the whole point is to heal your mind, and your body will follow."
