Medela breast pump, August 10, 2009

"If you are planning to breastfeed your baby, you will most likely need to buy a breast pump. While there are many different kinds out there ranging from the single manual pumps, to the small electric ones, I have found that the Medela Pump in Style Advanced Breast Pump with Backpack is the way to go.

I can honestly say that out of all of the breastpumps I had tried, this was the only one that felt so close to nursing my own baby, which helped a great deal. At first I was using a simple manual pump, and it was so frustrating because I couldn't seem to keep my milk flowing. After that I switched to a small electric single pump, and it was a little bit better, but it seemed to only get my milk flow going for a very short time. The unnatural feel of them seemed to make it very difficult for me psychologically.

breast pump review I finally decided to get on the internet and do some research. It seemed like the Medela Pump in Style Breast Pump with Backpack was the most popular, and although it is a bit more expensive than the manual pumps, you are better off spending your money on a good one than wasting money on a few that don't get the job done.

I was so impressed with the way this breastpump mimics the natural suckling patterns of my own baby. It has a stimulation phase, which imitates the short, quick suckling of an infant to initiate milk flow, and then an expression phase in which the suckling action becomes more slow and deep.

With it's adjustable speed and vacuum, and battery pack for portability, this is the most user friendly breastpump I've come across. I just can't get over the natural feeling of it. Not only is this pump mom-friendly, but it is also safe for your baby. All of the parts that come in contact with milk are BPA/DEHP free.

When you buy the Medela Pump in Style Advanced Breast Pump with Backpack, it comes with a cute backpack for discreetly taking it with you to work, dinner, road trips, or pretty much anywhere. It also comes with lots of extras like the battery pack, collection containers and lids for the expressed milk, breast shields, a removable cooler carrier, a cooling element, even information on breastfeeding. It does take 8 AA batteries that are not included, so don't forget to pick them up.
I hope that you decide to buy this amazing product. It made my breastfeeding experience beautiful, and I was able to continue to nurse my baby for 12 months because of it. You can order one through bellybathandbeyond.com."
