An animated grown-up movie!!, June 28, 2009
By mlittle209

"This movie is not appropriate for children. They should've made it not animated and PG-13!! I took children ranging in age from 8 to 4 years old to see this movie. The topics are completely inappropriate for young children. The dogs alone were frightening not to mention the owner of the dogs chasing down the older gentleman and the boy with a shotgun. It was ridiculous watching the dogs fall to their death off of the cliff while they were chasing the main characters as well. The topics are nothing small children should have to think about or worry about: losing a baby, that kind of sorrow or melancholy and life just sucking all around for the old man. There is a sequence where a truck accidentally backs into the old man's mailbox, and one of the construction guys comes over to help fix the mailbox and the old man and the construction guy get into a tussle over the mailbox and the old guy hits the man in the forehead with his cane! And the movie shows a big bloody wound on his head! I groaned througout this whole movie as I realized how inappropriate it was. After we left the theater, the 6 year old girl I was with said it made her feel sad and scared. Now I ask you, is that our goal when we take our children to the movies???? I think not."
