"I have experience with Hi (HP -8750) and Low End (HP 1210) Ink Jet Printers that have both served me well.
This week, I have researched "excessively" for a HP-1210 replacement and finally decided on the WF 600 (small premium over the WF 500 is WELL worth it).
Great service best price via Amazon and was up and running in 35 minutes on a iMac Intel running Leopard.
The supplied software is amazing, especially the OCR Program where an optional "upgrade" is to a $355 version with very few extra features. So, the included program is an amazing deal.
Standard scanning is far better than with the HP 1210.
Epson supplies std size color ink tanks and the Extra Large Black tank (Rated at 850 pages) with the printer. There are five quality options for standard jobs and two more for high-end photo printing. I have printed several documents on the "economy" selection (one above the draft mode) and the quality is better than that of the printer being replaced.
The hard-copy documentation is minimal and a web site alias is supplied that leads to an extensive on-line Manual. It has a search function which saves a huge amount of time and frustration. This is a great feature as Epson can also add new info without leaving the searchable manual format.
I got in touch with a human support person in 5 minutes who was very helpful with a question on networking.
The free warranty upgrade after registration is another gift at the relatively low price for the WF 600.
If you see negative feedback on this printer, I'll bet it will be from an Epson competitor.
I do not have any connection with Epson and am a retired management consultant always looking for "an even better way" to get things done.
As you may have guessed, I am very glad I spent a lot of time researching printers and am really happy with my new WorkForce 600.
Of course, my wife thinks I've reverted to a strange, child-like behavior :-)"
