Genius and Misery of Chess, August 20, 2009
By StanVaughan

"This is a book that is a valuable addition to the literature of chess. It covers Alekhine's martyrdom, as well as excellent coverage of the tragic fate of many other chess greats. There are a few slight inaccuracies such as that it says Morphy beat Staunton in 1858 match at Cafe de la Regence Paris when in fact it was Anderssen that he beat. Some dates are listed as 1900's when in fact 1800's, so my only complaint is that a better job of editing and proofreading had been done. Nonetheless, many chess greats such as Charousek, etc are covered."
