Finding dirt roads to beaches, January 21, 2009
By COtwo

"If you go to Kauai you'll see there are not very many signs pointing to the waterfalls or beaches or hiking trails. We found that having a book like this was required to get max enjoyment from our days there. The hiking in Waimea Canyon which is a mini Grand Canyon, rainbow colors and all, was outstanding. Looking down the steep cliffs to the valleys below was like being in a helicopter, without the expense. This guide helped us find wild beaches on the North Shore which we had to ourselves with a few Hawaiian net fishermen and a monk seal which is endangered. Definitely recommend this book for getting around the island easily and having all the fun you anticipated. BTW, it kept the kids entertained too. They got to swim everyday in what they call "keiki" ponds where the ocean was calm."
