"This is the way my family & friends have been making tortillas for years-for you who do not have a press this may help- this really sounds like a lot but it is very easy and well worth it--after mixing the dough-kneed it a little on the counter, cover it and let it rest about 20 min- I put a little of the Crisco(in my opnion-the only thing that makes great torts other than the lard in the red metal can) on my hands; take about a golf ball size of dough-work it a little--make all the dough up in little balls with a little lard on them- again cover the bowl they are in while you make the tortillas--You can use a rolling pin, or your hands to pull and turn the dough until it is the thickness you like- cook them on a DRY griddle-when they just start to get a few spots of dark turn them over- as they puff just touch the puffness down and you have great tortillas- this really sounds like a lot but it is very easy and well worth it, Marybob"
