"This is an excellent dish with a lot of flavor. Be sure to use fresh lentils, or they may take too long to cook. The first time I made this dish I ended up cooking it for over 40 minutes because my lentils had been in the cupboard for years. Then I read that although lentils may never go bad, fresh lentils will cook more quickly then old lentils."
