The perfect refried bean recipe, May 14, 2008

"This is it, folks, the real McCoy. If you take shortcuts, or leave out ingredients, your refried beans simply will not taste autentico. With half the saturated fat of butter (and I love butter!), lard has received an unjust reputation and is truly not the devil it once was considered. Lard makes refried beans taste heavenly and just right, and it is definitely worth it to make beans from scratch, which is so easy and requires only a little bit of advanced planning. Then, put it all together and ¡Viva los frijoles!"
