"I'm always afraid of anything with fenugreek, it is such a powerful spice and I have never enjoyed it, but I wanted to try something different/a different indian pumpkin dish. I was was not even convince while it was cooking that I'd like it. I never use salt while cooking and find all of the indian dishes I have made so far need the "zing" of either lime or lemon juice. I tried it "plain" - dull. I sprinkled some salt and lime juice - excellent!
I followed the recipe except for the following changes: 1. no salt; 2. no oil - just use water; 3. I had some not yet dried red chilis from my garden, used instead of dried; 4. I used sucranant (?) sugar; and being I was too impatient to wait, 5.started to mash up the pumpkin as it was cooking, not to mush, but chunky. Without the oil this is an enjoyable, low fat, low calorie and satisfying meal."
