"My 1983 American Professional Bartender's Guide calls for a vodka pina colada, but if this drink was ordered today, I would definately use coconut-flavored vodka, pineapple juice & cream frozen or over crushed ice. This recipe will only work with coconut-flavored vodka, if you use regular vodka you must use cream of coconut instead milk. I am researching who invented this drink, all drinks actually and I can not seem to find anything other than it was made in the 70's."
