"I tried to make this cake 2 times, following the recipe exactly, and neither attempt resulted in any form of edible cake. Once baked the batter baked formed some type of strange hot, doughy, glop that looked the same as when it went in. The batter didn't rise at all and I have no clue why. The first time I tried, I added the milk/sugar/lemon juice/agar agar mixture hot, right from the stove. The batter didn't rise one bit and even remained sticky in the pan. I tried a second time by letting the liquids cool to near room temperature before adding them to the dry ingredients. The batter was wetter however, still didn't rise and only began to burn when left in the oven for additional time. I will not make this cake again and wasted too much time on it to begin with. Also, having eaten many pasteles de tres leches in the past...there is NO lemon in any recipe I've ever had. Don't waste you time on this one."
