A Taste of the Past,

"I had been looking for a place to buy, or a recipe for, Friselle for years. I guess I just wasn't spelling it correctly when conducting my internet searches, and I hadn't checked the Italian Food area of About.com. I will not make that mistake again.
As a kid my parents would bring a couple of bags of Friselle home from an italian bakery/deli in nearby Chicago. They were a favorite of my fathger who would take the entire ring and hold it briefly under the tap to wet it, and then add olive oil, herbs, garlic and tomatoes. I fell in love with it immediately--so good.
And this recipe really takes me back to that time. Easy to do, and I will definitely be making this again and again. Grazie."
