"My mother and two of my aunts worked at the Occidental Hotel in the late 30's and early 40's. One aunt later became Muskegon, Michigan's premier caterer. Everything was made from scratch, as were most things in that day.

This recipe is one of the survivors, long after the hotel was demolished. It is the only recipe I use as it is so much richer and has wonderful flavor-better than anything store bought! And easy to make."
