Better than I expected., November 8, 2009

"I like to experiment with different Japanese recipes because I just get a kick out of it. I didn't make these having a very high expectation for how much I would like the taste.
I didn't use the an powder, I used premade anko instead (I had such difficulty with that due to my parents' weak stove, but that's another story). I also used pecans instead of walnuts because I like pecans more, and couldn't find any walnuts in the house.
Everything came together quite nicely, but I am not sure if the oven at 160F is good enough, it almost certainly is supposed to be 160C because it just didn't work with Fahrenheit.
As for taste,it was actually quite nice. Not too sweet at all, I really liked to dough on the outside, it had a very simple taste and a good texture.
Now that I have made these baked manju, I'll try to make the steamed manju recipe next time."
