The picture is not what it seems...,

"I tried this recipe and the caramels that came from it were only soft for about the first hour. Then they went hard like peanut brittle. I wanted soft creamy caramels, but that's not what I got. Maybe the temperature that they have is too hot, because on my candy thermometer the temperature that the recipe has says "hard ball." Perhaps they meant "soft ball?" I will attempt to make this recipe again and see if I change the temperature, maybe the caramels will turn out how I wanted them to in the first place."
