Solid Variation on a Theme, June 25, 2008

"A fine recipe for my favorite pickle! I grow button onions here in California solely to pickle them, and I do it several ways, one of them very similar to this version, with peppercorns and bay leaves. My favorite, however, uses boiled down grape must and balsamic vinegar (not the good stuff) to make an inky sweet pickle that's awesome at Thanksgiving."
